When the timer position is selected at any given time of the day, the flickering light will turn on and then will automatically turn off 5 hours later.  The following day, if the switch settings have not been modified, the flickering light will automatically turn on at the same time and will automatically turn off 5 hours later.  To change starting time, move switch to OFF position then slide switch to TIMER position at your new desired time.  To override TIMER function, use manual ON / OFF switch at anytime.
